The pungo 120 is a great boat for fishing on the inside. I wouldn't try it on the outside however. As for the fish ...well lets just say there are generally a few anywhere but the concentrations are pretty unpredictable. Good luck.

I think your kayak will work fine in the creeks and rivers here. I don't suggest you going out in the ocean though. There are plenty of trout and flounder that hide out in the ICW and all of the creeks down here.

And yes, you can get pomps in Va! I think they're just getting up there. I used to catch a few out at Fort Monroe.

Yeah I agree, I wouldn't use that Yak in the surf......Sit ins are too dangerous in the surf IMO. Pawley's Island????? Boy of unlimited fun and pullage take a 30-50# Boat rod, a Senator Reel (or similar style) wade out and throw some big hunks of cut bait into the surf....SHARKS EVERYWHERE. They are everywhere in the are, but I believe the congregate near there because the amount of fish in the inlet. It was non-stop action, The first day out I yakked my baits out, the second day it was a little too rough to do that, so I ended up basicaly wading out to knee-waist deep water and throwing my bait in the water (can't cast the setup) 10-15 min and Reels were screaming........Great fun....On other fish....There were pomps that were caught in the surf as well as Sheepshead over on the Jetty at the end of the houses. I didn't fish it, but the river behind the beach looked really nice and was loaded with people fishing.

shrimp will work, but you might do better with live minnows. It's going to depend on what they're hitting. I'd bring squid strips, shrimp (live or frozen), and minnows.

4/0 is probably too small, we're talking 4'-6' sharks. I was using a 10/0 J Hook (if you're going to use circle you should go with a 16/0) 4' of Steel Leader and 10' of 400# mono. http://www.pierandsurf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=214352&posted=1#post214352 read that post, the Tackle Shop I am talking about there sells premade shark rigs with the 4' already on it. I got my bait from Seven Seas Fish Market, they were kind enough to give me some heads, tuna skin and bloodline.
