Heading down to P.B area next fri. and need some help. I never fished this area and gulf shore fishing is fairly new to me. I know there are some piers to fish and is one better than the other. Their phones are shut off and I can't find a real person to talk to about fishing them. What do you normally fish for this time of year, what kind of rods and reels and what bait is best. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Have fished there a bit for years but never this time of year so can't help much.Hopefully a moderator will move your post to the Fl. section.Google 'halfhitch tackle' for some good information on current fishing conditions and expectations.

The main pier is supposed to be closing for construction, I might drive down that way today to see if it's actually happened yet. There is another short pier at the state park and there are jetties you can fish from too. In the surf right now, you can probably find a few flounder, some bluefish and maybe a couple pompano.

Emanuel thanks for the info. I know it's a bad time of year but were using a timeshare and has to be used before the end of January. Any suggestions on how and what to use to catch those fish you mentioned. I haven't fished for them before.

I fished the back end of St. Andrew's State Park today. If you look at a map of the area, you'll see a long point that runs out on the north end where the lagoon meets the bay. That's where I was. I caught two lizardfish, one small flounder and a monster seabass. They all hit a Gulp! on a 1/2 ounce jighead.
