Tommy, congrats on your success last week. Question, do you have the 13' in a casting version. Thanks.

These are sweet rods and a great price. I threw the 150 gram on the 11' model on Sunday with a basic ABU 6500 C3 converted to non levelwind to about 465'.

Tommy,
What is the distance from butt to center of reel seat on the 12' casting model? Thanks.

Tommy, do you foresee getting any of the 13' 6nbait casting model rods in the near future. I am interested in getting 2 of those. Also would the shipping be $30 each or could these be combined to reduce it a little.

Just measured at 27.5" to center of reel seat on the 12' 6nbait casting.

I'm not sure exactly but it will be in the next AFAW order which will be sometime later this year.

I can combine 2 rods into one tube to reduce shipping. 30.00 should cover them both.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I should have bought sooner. I'm now throwing the HDX and the reel seat seems a little long for me. The idea of the coasters was what interested me on these rods.

The 13' casting rods were pretty much sold before I got them....lol

Next time I'll order more, they seem to be popular. Don't discount the 12' though, it is a very capable rod.

If anyone gets the 10' version, could you post relative distances casting 2oz vs 6oz? The rod is rated 4-8, so the 2oz won't go that far, but I'm wondering if it's 2/3 as far, 1/2 as far, etc. Curious if the sensitive tip is whippy enough to launch lighter lures when needed.
Thanks in advance :-)

Tommy, can you get the 12' 6NB blank only??

Tommy

Barty,

Sorry but the 6nbait rods are only available as built rods. It is a shame because I think the blanks would sell.

tommy,tried a buddy's 13'surf this weekend and wow,i loved it.
is that 13' rod that is on sale the 3-5 model?if so,i'll take one.
if not, what is price on 13' 3-5 surf?

Tommy
04-01-2008, 08:26 AM
The 6nbait and the Surf are different rods. The Surf is a 3-5 oz rod the 6nbait is a 4-8 oz rod.

Surf blank is 220.00 and factory Surf is 330.00. Blanks are coming, it may be a while on built rods.

I bet you get tired of all the questions....lol. Here's another one...11' spinning or casting....what's the wieght like compared to an OM rod? I'm new to distance casting and have an OM already which seems a bit heavy. Also, if lighter than the OM, how many in stock now?

Tommy
05-30-2008, 04:48 PM
The 6nbait is lighter than the OM. I don't have any 11' models left. I've got 9 and 10' in casting and spinning, 12 and 13' in spinning only.

What a beast! Tommy said he threw 8+bait with it and I figured he's a lot younger and stronger than me so I oughta be able to throw 10+bait. I shortened the drop a bit and it seemed like I had to wait a little to let the rod catch up but I'm here to tell ya it WILL throw 10 and a chunk or a head a long, long way. I believe it will throw 10+ further than my 1569s. Yet it still does quite nicely with 6&Bait.

Lots of power for big fish, too. I like the way it bends progressively. I like to put the screws to 'em, get 'em on the beach quickly, and back in the water. This stick will move a mountain, methinks.

I love it!! I had a chance to throw Lineside Addicts (12ft conv) last weekend at the tourny and it was sweet!! Threw 6and bait with ease. Highly recommend it. I'll own one soon:D

My 13' 6&Bait is a little "different". I put a 24mm reel seat on and cork taped over the shrink sleeve. Then I replaced the tip with a #16 and replaced the last four 12mm guides with Fuji 16mm BLNAGs which are the same height as the original guides. Ya just can't fish grass with itty bitty guides. Chris, be glad to show it to ya next month.

Would also like to report that the AFAW 13' Surf WILL absolutely catch big fish. :D:D:D But it is a niche rod for sure. You can't fish it if there is much current and not at all if it is grassy. Seems to me that the Surf and an Abu Mag Elite are made for each other. Again, I put a reel seat and cork tape on mine.

Hey Steve, that sounds like a plan, let me know when you'll be out this way, and I'll meet you at AI and chase some fish around.

Chris - Going to the OBX 2 - 9, home for a couple days to clean up, then AI for the rest of the month. Unless the OBX drummin' is too good...
