Rod is rated 4-7 oz. Used on one trip to Del. beaches and one trip to Hatteras. Can't get the ferrules apart.

Turn that rod upside down and spray some WD-40 around the ferrules and let it set for a couple of hours, that might help, then wear some platex rubber glove used for cleaning for extra grip and twist in the opposite direction.
Hope this helps.

Had the same thing happen to on my Sealine,
I got them apart using frozen ice packs @ the ajoined ferrules.
Put the butt end between my knees, ice pack at the ferrule and pulled the top of.
Use a warm gloth on the top part of the rod and ice pack on the butt end where they furrell up the heat will expand the tip part of the furrell and the ice will contract the butt end at the furrell and they will come apart easy...........JAM
