Don't know the VA regs, but was something illegal done? If not, then what's the fuss?

Always have been irked by people taking LMB. Have been yelled at before on here for voicing that opinion even. But seeing someone taking 12 of these fish, I am still gonna speak. I have always thought of Bass as a pure gamefish. I know someone will say "but they are tasty", fair enough, then take a couple. Why take THAT many fish. It is not like these are a limitless fish. Even in the best fishing grounds (Florida, Texas, Cali) that I have freshwater fished in, there are still concerns abuot the prosperity of the fish. They take a very long time to reach a mature age and growth and it just saddens me greatly to see large ones taken for food. Catch them, release them and catch them again in 3 years and smile to yourself.

Thanks for that response. I think it went a lot further towards persuading other to C&R than your first. I'm 100% C&R on LMB, so I understand where you're coming from.

5 bass per day in VA. Gotta agree, I'm a true bass fisherman...C&R is the only way to go.

full story? Was this a family's catch?

Don't judge a picture, I too don't keep bass, don't really care for eating em, but seems a little critical jumping on a picture.

And I have seen some ponds, lakes, that would do better by weeding out some smaller fish.

Too many small fish ain't good either.

I haven't killed a bass in over 20 years, but I agree with Surf Cat about too many small fish. Unfortunately, these are LARGE fish which SHOULD have been released.

yeah, im C&R too and up here in TN bass is pretty much my best fishery so i cant stand to see this. if ya gotta eat bass, then eat a FEW little'uns and put the big boys back, unless its like 8 lbs or up and i might keep one of those a year to mount, other wise they all go back

I don't know why some guys feel it's their duty to keep what they catch. If everybody did this we might as well not buy any bass lures and there would be no Bass Pro shop. If ever watch the hunting shows, the experienced good hunters let the elk grow and they pick the trophy size. I see one trophy and the rest just a sin against the almighty Bass Masters. It's not what Bill Dance would do.
It sickens my stomach

Huh! you can actually eat LMB?? The whole reason i took the plunge from freshwater to salt was that I can actually take home a fish or 2 or 3 and eat them. I have always been a catch and release frshwater angler.

Like I said if ya don't know the story, quit complaining. If this was taking from a private pond- it's NOBODY'S business but the owner's. If any of ya all have the facts, and KNOW that a crime was committed, by all means jump on it.

I could give a rats behind if there was a fish left for the "bassmasters" to catch. Morons flying around in bass boats--- whoopee !!

I don't keep em cause their mush to eat- my opinion.

Main reason for c&r on freshwater species is due to the increased levels of mercury being found in ponds and such. The increased levels of bacteria and parasites in some f/w species has hindered folks from keeping em... I'll say this..fry'em up w/ some fried potatoes and grits...Man some good eat'n...LOL
